1. What appeals to you about your story, and the vision/concept you have for your environment.
I like that my story is about two people willing to sacrifice something important to them to make the other one happy. They are not from a wealthy background by any means but they want to get each other a nice gift for Christmas. I am envisioning an apartment that is maybe sparsely decorated with old and broken tassels, stockings, etc. but no tree - or if there is, it is very bare and obviously the worst tree from the lot. The apartment itself is pretty run down and worn in. Any furniture they have is 'well loved', mixed-matched, and oddly repaired if broken.
2. Between 3 to 6 adjectives that describe emotions your painting will communicate
Depressed
Struggling
Hopeful
3. List colors that will communicate those emotions (moods) as well as the dominant shape
language and lighting considerations.
Grays
Muted reds
Muted greens
Dull gold
Brown
A mix of sharp angles and curves - to show the mix of worn in furniture and broken pieces
Lighting will be sparse and dull but not dark - soft lighting. They obviously can't afford to have many, if any, lights/candles on.
